Data collection methodology
The Media and Information Literacy Summary Survey Report Thailand 2019
was conducted the survey related to global standard in surveying along with
gathering statistical data from survey samples, which are representative of each
region, which are central, northern, southern, eastern, and northeastern. Each
conducted information can be projected into dimension in each specific area of
each region and also reflect to national result. The survey aimed to estimate
status and competency in media and information literacy of Thailand, which
collected general information along with individual information about media and
information literacy and digital literacy. Then, the information will be collected
as substance information to analyzing overall status of Thailand in each specific
detail, such as gender, education, generation, marriage status, religion, disability,
occupation, income, and location etc. The survey can be conducted in 6 steps,
which aligned with UNESCO’s Media and Information Literacy Assessment
Framework that is setting up committees and working group for surveying in
Thailand, designing and planning for collecting survey information via survey
process controllers and statisticians. Meanwhile, the survey results can be
gathered by using both online and offline channels according to target group of
survey samples and survey process controllers. For the timeframe, the survey
results were collected from June 2018 to October 2018, and aimed for having
minimum samples as 10,700 persons. After conducting survey, the survey results
sent to working group of information management for analyzing information,
which is working along with social scientists, data technicians, statisticians, media
creators, and media monitor, to evaluate status of media and information literacy
and digital literacy of Thailand with analyzing and presenting plans and guidelines
for proceeding driving force to achieve the goal. The processes of collecting
survey results are shown below:
