Electrical system – electrical components EL - 3

              Use and Maintenance IN

              1. Charger equipment:
                                                           Caution DI
DC power supply shall be used to charge the battery. Since the power plants only supply AC power, it
shall be converted into DC power before being used for charging. EG

              a. Current regulator.
              b. Charger with thyristor voltage regulator. TR

              2. Battery charging considerations:
              a. Battery charging shall be performed inside a dry and ventilated room. The preferred ambient temperature AX
              should be 5~40℃.
              b. Do not stack the batteries together or place them directly on the ground. Batteries shall be placed FR
on wooden stand and shall be kept away from alkaline batteries or other chemicals.

              c. Fire sources are prohibited in the charging area, and there shall be no heat sources nearby.
                                                                                                                  ST
              d. The electrolyte solution temperature shall not be higher than 45℃, otherwise cooling measures shall be
taken (by reducing charging current or stopping charging or cooling the batteries in a water sink).
                                                                                                                  BR
              3. Electrical connection for charging:

              a. Connect the positive poles of both charger and battery together, and connect the negative poles of both
                                                                                                                  BW
charger and battery together. Never reverse the polarity of the connection.

              b. For most batteries, the charging current can be determined on the basis of the charger power. The
                                                                                                                  EL
              connection shall be firmly fixed.

              4. Charging methods:

In general, there are three charging methods, i.e., constant current charging, constant voltage charging and fast

              charging.

              5. Measure the batteries after charging by using instruments, determine the capacity of the battery by
voltage or capacity method to determine if the capacity of the battery has been regained to the nominal
              value.

              a. Voltage method

                          Voltage Judge Dispose

                        12. Above 5V Normal Relay valve

                         11.5~12.5V Not charged sufficiently Charge

                        11. Below 5V Overdischarge or internal failure Recheck after charging

              b. Status shown by the indicator

                 Capacity instrument displaying Judge Dispose

                         White area Sufficient Relay valve

                         Green area Normal Relay valve

Yellow area Not charged sufficiently Charge

Red area Overdischarge Recheck after charging
