71-10 WIRING - INTRODUCTION TO CIRCUITS
SYMBOLS OF ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS
Battery
It stores the chemical energy and
converts it into the required electric
energy for the vehicle's electric
equipment.
Earthing (grounding)
The negative cable of the electric
equipment lies on the metal parts such
as the frame, with the vehicle's metal
body as a common path. This way of
connecting negative cable to the vehi-
cle is called earthing (grounding).

Fusible link (fuse)
In high power circuit (or circuit of cer-
tain electric equipment), when the
current exceeds the rated load, the
fuse blows spontaneously and the
current will be cut off, so to keep the
circuit operating safely.
Induction coil
When the magnetic field fluctuates (or
being divided), the coil circuit will
generate induced electromotive force.
Solenoid valve
The current that flows the magnetic
coil will form an electromagnetic field,
which can be used to control the oper-
ation of the parts.
Lamps
It is a lighting equipment, as the cur-
rent flows through, the filament is
heated up and the lamp glows.
