caught in the middle. In a matrixed structure, you can easily have between one and

seven immediate supervisors and/or stakeholders

ü Be smart and stay sharp - If you’re in a fear-based environment, you have to figure out how to protect yourself. The
worse the environment, the smarter and astute you have to be.

don’t have control of.

ü A Smarter Way to Network - Build a strong support system for your next crisis or
opportunity.

ü Analyze: Identify the benefits each of your existing network connections now provides. Does one person give you
valuable information? Does another have expertise you need but lack?
ü De-layer: Weed out connections that aren’t helping you, such as people who burn too much of your time.

ü Diversify: Fill the fresh openings in your network with people who can deliver the additional benefits you and your
team need to accomplish your work.
