For the fifth year in a row
Auckland clubs will pack up
and head for the coast to
mark the official countdown
to the new footy season.

Following its success in 2017,
the Sportsafe ARL Nines will
again be staged at Stanmore
Bay, the home of the Hibiscus
Coast Raiders, with a number
of leading Auckland clubs set
to return and battle it out
for early bragging rights.

Last year the Pt Chevalier
Pirates claimed overall
honours, downing the
Hibiscus Coast Raiders in the
final, after the latter fought
their way through to the
decider with a dramatic
victory over the Marist Saints
thanks to a try after the final
buzzer.

“The Sportsafe ARL Nines
have become one of the real
highlights of the new season
each year, with clubs using
the tournament as a way to
break up their pre-season
programmes and it’s an ideal
bonding trip,” co-organiser
Troy Hardy said.

“We will also be streaming
