four years ago from Ely. I had lived in Ely for
many years seeking solace and shelter from

difficult at time. My mother who was 88 had
asked me to move to be closer and to help her.
With my family support I came. My mental
health was in crisis the first year. The stress of
the city and new responsibility after a peaceful
quiet life in the Northwoods was overwhelming.
Once again, God’s stepped in with a rescue
remedy! My art! I found a resource in people
incorporated. They provide a multitude of ser-
vices for people with mental illness. The past
three plus years I’ve taken art classes and
shown my work in their annual art show and
sale through their program Artibility. Once
again, my art has been my saving grace on this
road of recovery. Last year I sold my first paint-
ing at their show, this year I sold three of my
paintings! I was amazed! In addition, I was in-
terviewed by Pioneer Press and participated in a
