Assessment Testing

Math, English, and English-as-a-Second-Language

Please wait at least one hour after submitting an online application to Napa Valley College to
drop-in to the Testing & Tutoring Center to take an assessment test during drop-in hours.

If you have/had an IEP, 504 or verified learning disability, please see Learning Services prior to
taking the placement test. If you are a DSPS student, please notify staff at check in.

Assessment Testing Drop-in Hours

Monday—Thursday 8:30am-4:00pm

NEED: Students must have submitted an online NVC application & a PHOTO ID is
required.

Length of Tests

English: 1 hour 15 minutes
Math: 45 minutes – 1 hour
English-as-a-Second-Language: 45 minutes

Retakes

Each test can be taken twice in two years, with a two week waiting period between attempts.

The English assessment test can be taken twice in two years and the math assessment tests can
be taken twice in one year. You must wait two weeks before retaking the same test.
