            INTRODUCTION

An essential component of Islam's socioeconomic system is zakat. The
fact that it is one of the five Islamic foundations upon which the
Islamic way of life is built and that the injunction of solat is frequently
followed by the injunction of zakat in the Quran both serve to
highlight its significance. Zakat was established during the earlier
Prophets as well; therefore, it is not just required for this ummah. This
institution was successfully established during the heyday of Islamic
            history (Obaidullah, M, 2020).

Islamists, both conservative and liberal, are divided on the topic of the
economics of zakat and its applicability in contemporary society (Ataul
Huq, 1993). Thus, this chapter will try to clarify the idea of zakat in the
context of the Qur'an and the Prophet Muhammad SAW true
application of this idea in modern times, particularly with reference to
            Islamic financial organizations.

            BASICS OF ZAKAT

            Definition and Roles of Zakat
Zakat literally translates to "growth," "increase," or "multiply" in
Arabic. This implies the spiritual and material development of the poor
people who receive zakat, as well as their riches. By making zakat
