The figure above shows some of the contributors presenting
their donations to the MKK project. It is essential to state that this
project is not funded by the public zakat fund but from sources other
than zakat funds. The total funds collected for this MKK project
were RM6,006,300.00, and individuals contributed about 19%
(RM1,146,029.00), and the remaining 81% was from Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) fund contribution by companies
amounting to RM4,860,271.00.
PPZ has taken proactive action by creating an official website
(https://musaadahkhaira.zakat.com.my) that is user friendly to help
eligible applicants apply for assistance during the COVID-19
pandemic. The application was opened between the 1st of April
2020 until the 8th of April 2020, and PPZ received about 100,000
applications, of which only 20,021 (20%) applications that met their
criteria were successful, and about 79,979 (80%) applications were
not approved. The application submission closed on the 9th of April,
2020 and their website was also officially closed on the 9th of April
2020. Of 20,021 recipients, 97% (19,440 recipients) are from
Muslim backgrounds, while the remaining 3% (581 recipients) are

non-Muslims. All of the applicants came from various states of
Malaysia.
