“Leading Today for a Better Tomorrow”

Lion Valcia King-Clarke ( Brooklyn Metropolis Lions Club), never
envisioned that most of her vacation in Barbados, would be
spent engaged with service and community projects with
members of the Bridgetown Lions club in MD60B. But as a true

Lion, she was ready for the challenge.

Lion Valcia served with the Lions and Leos in the feeding of over
80 homeless persons and distributed breakfast to over 70 under-
privileged students. She partnered with the United Society of the
Blind Association (USBA)in a presentation to students, about White Cane/Diabetes Presentation
diabetes awareness and the importance of eating healthy foods.
In commemoration of “World Sight Day,” she assisted in a
session for non-sighted persons, where the challenges of living
with vision loss were discussed. She also visited clubs and

     attended a zone meeting.

Lion Valcia and other Lions joined in an “awareness walk” with
(USBA) in recognition of “White Cane Awareness Day.” With the
assistance of Lions and police officers, the visually disabled
persons walked through the busy streets, to highlight some of Feeding the homeless
the challenges they encounter daily. The walk captured the
attention of many, including the leading publishing newspaper in
Barbados, television news and social media platforms.
