6. Application Process
This is an area where the Ascot Group has a clear and distinct advantage over its competitors already
in the market. The ability to complete the whole application process online (including the customer
due diligence process), without having to have an adviser physically present, means that it will be much
easier for many investors to apply from home, without having to travel to see their adviser.
In particular, the current situation is that Hong Kong life companies can only sign up new business if
the investor completes the application process physically in Hong Kong. This is of course not only costly
for investors, but also a very time-consuming process. The Ascot Group online applications will provide
a seamless, cost efficient experience and process.
Customer due diligence will also be automated and will be completed as part of the application process
by the applicant/introducer. This will be done by state of the art systems supplied by accredited
outside suppliers who specialise in that area, and will include automatic document verification,
passport checking, photo comparison between the applicant and their photo-document (passport or
id card), and the opportunity for conversations to be recorded and stored on the client’s file where
they explain specific parts of their CDD, e.g. source of wealth.
Checking of individuals against sanctions lists and PEP databases will also be undertaken both as part
of the take on, and on a regular review basis. All will be built into the application/ongoing servicing
process.

managers or will use a number of funds from selected fund houses. In most cases these will not be
will be the best performing fund managers against their peers in their respect sector or asset class.
With returns varying greatly from one fund manager to the next the Ascot Life will offer a select range
of underlying insurance funds where the fund manager has been, not only in the first quartile, but in
