                                            Pouching Problems



                                Acknowledge the difficulties and offer support:

                                      “Although it may take several applications to find what
                                  best fits your stoma – I don’t want you to feel discouraged –
                                  we want to make sure that it will fit properly”

                                      Tell the patient what the difficulty is  – “due to deep
                                  peristomal creasing, or recessed stoma we may need to
                                  add accessories to maintain a seal”
