People who lack melanin pigment in
the skin tend to suffer from a skin
pigmentation disorder, called
albinism.
The presence of melanin pigment
protects the skin by delaying the
process of sun tanning.
As a result, albinos who are
deficient in melanin pigment tend
to burn easily.
In albinism, the lack of pigment in
the skin causes hair to appear white,
and eye color to be pale blue.
