IMPACT MEASUREMENT METHODS
Increase in Product Quality 1. The double blade tank for horizontal printing condition in flexogra-
phic printing gives several positive benefits.
2. The embedded blades are intentionally to remove excessed ink on
the surface of the anilox roller. This mechanism simplifies the setting
since the blade had been arranged to have an angle between 20º
to 30º.
3. Final printing quality also shows better quality while removing exc-
essed ink from the anilox roller before transporting the ink to the he-
avy duty plastics. The printing quality is measured and shows better
quality. (Refer Appendix 4).
4. The new invention minimizes the requirement of using 3 rollers to
only one roller for printing mechanism. The ink tank with double
blades has several environmental and cost benefits. The optimized
ink usage can be enhanced with controlled disposed chemical
method since the ink is hazardous to the environment. Thus, contr-
olling the amount of ink using the blades prevent spills and reduce 94
chemical waste by the industry.
Benefits for IPTA 1. The funding provided by KTP to the discovery of the new ideas and
(Recognition for Aca- the advancement of knowledge in applied sciences, focusing on
demician) high impact and innovative research.
2. Within the time frame for this project, graduate intern has success
fully pursued the master studies without financial problem due to
budget allocated for this project.
3. The product invented also participated in Creation, Innovation,
Technology and Research Exposition (CITREX 2016) organized by
UMP and managed to win Silver Medal.
4. This new invention took part in Malaysian Technology Expo 2017
MTE 2017) that held on February 2017. This project won silver medal
on this research exhibition. This invention is also submitted for patent
application.
Human Capital Develop- 1. This program developed talent pool of students in the form of post-
ment (Graduate Intern graduates in exchange for valuable industrial training.
Employability) 2. This form of arrangement draws upon principal investigators to
conduct on-the-job training (OJT) in order to achieve knowledge
transfer and development.
3. Graduate interns can manifest themselves in direct staff attachme-
nts with the collaborating company.
4. Graduate interns were enabled to develop their skills in designing
the new model for printing mechanism which has enhanced her
knowledge in plastic printing industry.
5. In addition, graduate interns have shown improvement in terms of
leadership and management skills as well as ability to deal and
establishing contacts with industry. A significant impact is that GI
has managed to secure position as Project Engineer at local com-
pany. This proved that this project aims to boost the level of gradu -
ate marketability as well as to fulfill the need for professional and
skilled manpower towards national development was successfully
implemented.
