     EXECUTIVE SUMMARY                       Knowledge  Transfer  Program  (KTP)  introduced  by  the  Ministry  of  Higher  Education
                                             which aims to encourage the transfer of knowledge between universities, research
                                             organizations, industries, government agencies and the wider community. Through
                                             this  program,  researchers  from  Faculty  of  Mechanical  Engineering  (FKM),  Universiti
                                             Malaysia Pahang (UMP) has collaborated with one of Small and Medium Industries
                                             (SMIs) company’s which F.M Plastics Industries Sdn. Bhd. (FMPI). This collaboration is   92
                                             under the project of development of printing design mechanism used for heavy duty
                                             plastics.

                                             This  project  focuses  on  the  improvement  of  printing  mechanism  for  heavy  duty
                                             plastics. New printing design mechanism consists of an ink tank with double blades
                                             manufactured to remove excess ink from anilox roller for heavy duty plastics using a
                                             flexographic  printing  method.  Thus;  the  ink  can  be  utilized  in  optimum  manner  for
                                             heavy duty plastics. In addition, the number of roller in conventional method can be
                                             reduced.

                                             Through this invention, the appropriate volume of ink is controllable, minimum mainte-
                                             nance  and  saving  manufacturing  cost.  Besides  that,  this  project  also  leads  to  the
                                             appointment  of  FMPI  as  a  vendor  for  PETRONAS  under  the  Vendor  Development
                                             Programme (VDP) by supplying Polyethylene heavy duty bagging rolls to Polyethene
