IMPLEMENTATION OF
PROJECT
Objectives 1. To provide treated clean water through the environmental friendly WASRA system to local
communities.
Methodology 1. In this project, the knowledge and technology transfer processes in groundwater and rainwater
treatment using WASRA UMP system will be disseminated from the raw water collection
process until the clean water ready for use. The process of pre-treatment (aeration,
contaminants removal, chlorination) and filtration system that uses ultrafiltration membrane
for production of clean water supply ready for use for aborigine community in rural area.
2. Quality control of drinking water that meets the standards of the national Drinking Water Quality
standards will be monitored on a regular basis, as has been set by the standards. Feedback from rural
community and the company will be carried out also to company personal and a representative from
aboriginal community to enhance their knowledge towards operation and maintenances (o&M) to
ensure they know how to operate the WASRA system accordingly.
Activities 1. organised visit to project’s site with industrial partner, undergraduate and post-graduate students;
conducted 2. Organised briefing session with industrial partner and students on WASRA system; and
3. Organised meet-up session with villagers to share on WASRA system and its benefits.
Output
Industry 1. Increase quality of treated groundwater and rainwater for water supply; and
2. Increase revenue for industrial partner.
Public Higher 1. Graduate interns increased their skills in using WASRA for groundwater and rainwater treatment.
Learning Institute
Human capital Students gained more experience, exposure and training on groundwater and rainwater treatment sys-
Development tem (through WASRA) to be distributed to rural communities.

PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED
1. Flood that occurs at the end of every year caused the research area not accessible;
2. Drought season disabled rainwater collection;
PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED
3. At the early stage of the project execution, there was difficulties to determine the exact location for WASRA; and
KNOWLEDGE
4.
Some of the villagers did not cooperate for execution of the project.
