IMPLEMENTATION OF
PROJECT
Objectives 1. To replace the existing outdated optimization engine of Wise Gate Allocation System with the recent
and advanced computational intelligence algorithm.
2. To use Graphical User Interface (GUI) for practical implementation.
3. To transfer the computational intelligence and mobile computing knowledge to the company for
future usage and maintenance.
Methodology
1. T eh o p i t m z i a o i t n e n n i g e 2. Testing and analysis of the new
of WISE GAS software has optimization engine offline based
been improved on the existing dataset are completed
3. Integration with WISE GAS 4. Overall functional test, real-time field
software is completed test and modification are completed
Activities 1. Familiarize with the related topic about flight operation at the airport for both theoretical and actual
Conducted operation based on KLIA operation.
2. Transfer of knowledge on the suitable computational intelligence algorithm.
3. Understand the actual operation of an airport. This project was focused on Kuala Lumpur International
Airport (KLIA).
4. Programming the fitness calculation based on walking distance.
5. Computational framework of gate allocation using time window.
6. Implement the optimisation process based on angle modulated simulated Kalman filter, binary
simulated Kalman filter, and distance evaluated simulated Kalman filter using MATLAB.

Output 100
Industry 1. A competitive gate allocation scheduling software to be used in KLIA
Public Higher 1. Opportunity to apply the new SKF algorithm to solve real industrial program
Learning Institute
Human Capital 1. A job for a fresh graduate can be provided.
Development 2. Industrial exposure to postgraduate students.
3. Trained graduate interns in computational intelligence.
4. Trained graduate interns in computer programming using MATLAB.
PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED
1. Minimum involvement from the industry. The researchers needed to read a lot of conference and journal papers in
order to understand the computational and modelling of airport gate scheduling problems.
2. The final milestone cannot be achieved because there was no opportunity to test the software in KLIA. The company
has not successfully able to establish the collaboration is granted, the software cannot be tested in KLIA.
