God? This could be a disaster. So, it is important to choose our

friends carefully.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him)

warned us of that. He said:

يْ ِكو هحير دتَ وأ ِهيتَشت امِإ ِ كسِملا بِحاص نِم كمدعي ل ِدادلحا

ةثيبخ احير هنِم دتَ وأ كبوث وأ كندب قري ِدادلحا

“The example of a good pious companion and an evil one is that of a
person carrying musk and another blowing a pair of bellows. The one
who is carrying musk will either give you some perfume as a present,
or you will buy some from him, or you will get a good smell from him,
but the one who is blowing a pair of bellows will either burn your
clothes or you will get a bad smell from him.” [Sahih Al Bukhari no.
2101]

When we are with a group of righteous friends, we will always

be reminded of Allah, will find someone who help us be upright and

commit to the commands of Allah, will find someone that helps us be
patient, will find someone to compete with in doing righteous deeds.

When we see our friends doing more ibadah, increasing in
charity and virtuous activities, dressing more and more modestly,

memorizing Qur’an and learning more about the deen, all of that will
influence us and make we feel that we can do more and this will open

more doors of khair (goodness) for us.
