2.1 PRODUCTION OF CBD
Cannabidiol is found in the female hemp plant. CBD-rich hemp may be legally
cultivated due to its low THC content. Since the legal aspects in many countries
prescribe a THC content of 0.2 %, CBD products contain only a minimal amount
of THC, in many products there are even no THC components.
Once the plants are ripe for harvest, the potent flowers of the cannabis plant
are used to produce CBD oil or CBD isolate.
CBD oil is obtained in many different ways. Especially high-quality cannabidiol
extracts from CO2 extractions are used.
Due to the heat-free extraction, the complete plant tussock spectrum as well as
all phytocannabinoids, except THC, remain contained. Full spectrum extract has
been shown in many studies to have a far better effect than cannabidiol isolate.
2.2 WHAT IS THC?
THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is the chemical compound in cannabis that has a
psychoactive effect, in other words, it makes you "high", to put it casually.
Besides the primary, popularly known psychoactive property of cannabis, THC
has other applications, for example in pain therapy.
Marijuana users can suffer from paranoia and increased stress levels. These
states are triggered by THC; it makes the human mind aware of insignificant
details and sometimes changes proportions in extreme ways.
CBD, on the other hand, triggers exactly the opposite reaction. Thus, already in
the early 1990s, American scientists discovered that CBD is the antagonist of
THC and helps to break down the psychoactive effect in the body as quickly as
possible.
