Meteorology

                3.9.7.3 ATIS

When arriving at an airport, you can

listen to ATIS, an automatic broadcast of

                information for arriving and departing
                aircraft.

The Runway Condition Code is given as

                three digits.

If the runway is uniformly covered, a single number may be provided for the

                entire runway.

If three numbers are provided, they correspond to the runway with the smallest

runway number, with the numbers referring to.

For example, if it were EKHG, it would be runway 09, with the first digit referring

to the first third of runway 09, the second digit to the middle third, and the final

                digit to the last third.

                3.9.7.4 Symbols on weather charts

If you see these symbols on the

weather chart, be on alert, as you

risk getting ice on the wing leading
                edges, intake, windshield, and

                propeller.

Actually, on the entire aircraft, if you

                fly in areas with negative

                temperatures and the plane is
                exposed to supercooled droplets.
