Communication

               4.6 Ready to send

So, I think we're ready to send something from the radio, right?

The golden rule is that you THINK about what you want to say.

Next, you press the PTT (Push to Talk) button (when you hear that the frequency

               is free).

Then, you SPEAK clearly and at a normal speaking speed (about 100 words per

minute), using the correct phrases. When you're done, let go the PTT button.

               4.6.1 The station's call sign

When we need to send a message, we need to know the station's call sign. It

could be, for example, Herning Radio. Our aircraft might be OY-CTZ.

An initial call might be like this:

➢ Herning Radio OSKAR YANKEE CHARLIE TANGO ZULU

The response from Herning Radio could be:

➢ OSKAR YAKEE CHARLIE TANGO ZULU Herning Radio

(You can read more about establishing contact and abbreviating call signs in a later section)
