Communication

4.12.1.1 Radio silence and cancellation of radio silence

The aircraft in distress or the aeronautical station that has taken control of the

distress traffic may impose radio silence on others who interfere with the

exchange of distress traffic by transmitting:

All stations - The aeronautical station's call sign, "Stop transmitting, Mayday".

                 Ex:

                   ALL STATIONS

                   ROSKILDE TOWER

                   STOP TRANSMITTING

                   MAYDAY

When the aircraft that has transmitted Mayday is no longer in a distress

situation, it shall transmit cancellation thereof to the controlling aeronautical

                 station as follows:

The aeronautical station's call sign – the aircraft's call sign – "Cancel distress"

                 Ex:

                   ROSKILDE TOWER
                   OY BKA

                   CANCEL DISTRESS

                 Engine running, returning to Roskilde

The controlling aeronautical station shall, when distress traffic has ceased and

radio silence is no longer necessary, transmit:

All stations - The aeronautical station's call sign, "distress traffic ended".

                 Ex:

                   ALL STATIONS

                   ROSKILDE TOWER

                   DISTRESS TRAFFIC ENDED
