Principles of flight
Both pedals and control stick are used to
move the controls, which are located on the outer surfaces of the aircraft, and
which, when moved, change the direction and/or speed of the aircraft.
The control surfaces acts just like a wing and generates a force at the place
where they are mounted.
5.6.1 Axes and control surfaces
An aircraft has 3 axes and 3 control surfaces:
- elevator - for movement around the lateral axis and provides pitch
- aileron - for movement around the longitudinal axis and provides roll
- rudder - for movement around the vertical axis (normal axis) and provides
yaw
The 3 axes intersect at the center of gravity.
