Aircraft general knowledge

                8.5.2.4 Sign

A sign is placed close to the tank so that you can see

what type of fuel is to be filled.

You must also be able to read the total tank content
and the usable content of the tank.

                8.5.2.5 Tank gauges

There is a gauge for both tanks.

Tank gauges are for guidance only

                and are calibrated to show

“Empty” when the amount of usable fuel is used up.

Always measure the amount of fuel in the tank and compare it with the

indications of the fuel gauges. Use a fuel stick for the type of aircraft you use.

8.5.2.6 Fuel tank cabs and vents

Fuel tank cabs are mounted on the top of the aircraft wings.

The cab which is mounted on the right wing of our Cessna has a small vent valve

so that when fuel runs out of the tank, no negative pressure is created in it.

The left tank is equipped with a vent of a different type, which can act as an
                overflow valve.

If you have filled the tank completely, you must ensure that the aircraft is parked

horizontally so that the fuel does not run out.
