Aircraft general knowledge

If a circuit breaker pops out, wait a minute before resetting it. If the fuse pops

out again, the fault must be examined at a workshop.

Extra fuses must always be carried for VFR night and IFR flights (if melting fuse is

                used).

                8.6.4.4 Ammeter

The ammeter can be connected in different ways in an aircraft. It can be set up
                to show 2 different currents:

                   - the total current consumption from the generator
                   - whether power is being drawn from the battery or whether the battery is

being charged and by how much.

The two types are shown below.

The first type of ammeter shows the current from the generator and via the

                BUSBAR and equipment to ground.

When the engine has just started, the battery will charge, and a consumption is

shown, even if no electrical appliances are switched on. If some are switched on,

the current consumption from these will cause the ammeter to show additional
                consumption.

In the event of a generator fault, the ammeter will show 0. The low voltage or

generator lamp will light. You must now limit power consumption by only having

                the absolutely necessary things on.
