Aircraft general knowledge

This next type of ammeter shows whether the battery is supplying power to the

BUSBAR, or whether the generator is managing to supply power to the things

                that are on.

If the ammeter shows +, it means that the battery is charging.

If the ammeter shows –, the battery is discharging, and it can only last for a short

time. If the ammeter shows 0, it does not mean that power is being drawn from

the battery or charged, but that the generator is supplying all the power that is

                used.

The busbar can also be connected between the generator and the ammeter, and

then the ammeter shows the charge on the battery.

                8.6.4.5 Low Voltage Warning

During flight, we have the opportunity to monitor the electrical

                system.

If the voltage becomes low due to a fault in the generator, the LOW

                VOLTAGE light will be on.

We can try to reset the voltage relay by turning the generator off and on again.
If this does not help, we must reduce power consumption and land as soon as

                possible.

Do not expect more than 30 minutes of power. We will lose radios first, so be

sure to call and report the problem before it’s too late.
