From the Desk of Head of Department
It is a matter of immense delight and pride to be the
Head of Department, of a prestigious institution like
Institute of hotel Management Lucknow, an institute
which is synonymous for professionalism and scholarly
excellence.
We all are aware that hospitality is a blend of approach
based skill-set such as warmth, affability and
compassion, good listening skills and self-confidence.
Hospitality Industry has been enduring speedily and is
bound to spread its roots in the coming years. IHM is a
leading global Institution imparting professional
warmth and a systematic approach towards the holistic
education and training since years.
As per industry estimation the entire manpower requisite in the hospitality segment would be more than 70 lakhs
by 2022. The existing skill gap has opened up vast opportunities and avenues for a career in the hospitality and
allied sectors i.e. Cruise Ships, Airlines, Railways, Banks, BPO's, Telecom Services, Multiplexes, Malls, Travel
Agencies, Tourism Offices, Catering Units, Clubs, Hospitals etc. The areas of know-how vary from Operations
to Marketing to Guest Relations to Finance and Accounting.
This situation offers development oriented lifelong gratifying career opportunities for our students. The boom in
Travel and Tourism industry has triggered rapid growth in the past decade which has augmented the demand for
manpower in the Hospitality industry.
To improve the brilliance of our students and their overall progress we systematize On-the-job-training and
Placement Assistance with companies of repute from time to time. In addition to this, the institution is imparting
soft & social skills and sophisticated Communication as a requirement for employment to all its students.
IHMs with their wide footprints across the country would help the youth living in smaller towns and cities, to
pursue multifaceted skill based programs like Hunar Se Rozgar and other Skill Certification programs etc. which
can generate the employability for them and make them socially accountable so that they can make their living
and protect their future, at the same time, improving the fate of their family, the community in which they live
and the society as a whole. This will lead to the development of highly skilled, employable and successful
professionals.
May these joint efforts by our Faculty, Office Staff, Support Staff & the Students direct us to attain new
paradigms in the field of hospitality, tourism & other allied service industries. Last but not the least I would like
to applaud for the team efforts of the magazine team of 'Manthan' for their sincere and enduring commitment
towards quality that will make the magazine a great success.
