The Culture Report
Make Em Say Ugh!
There was a time in history when
everybody and their mama were No
Limit Soldiers or proclaiming they
were Bout It Bout it (the lie detector
test determine, that was a lie). The No
Limit tank lead by the Colonel Percy
Miller aka Master P dominated the
airwaves from 1996 to the early
2000’s pushing out hits after hits.
With what he says was a $10,000
malpractice settlement given to his
family after his grandfather died,
Master P combined two years of
junior college business classes and many more years of what he calls ''street hustling'' to start a record
store and then a record company, No Limit Records. With little radio or MTV exposure, No limit
become one of the biggest new independent labels in any kind of music.
With the 1996 release of I’m Bout It the movie, many of us thought we were watching P’s bio pic. But
that seems to be a false narrative.
Master P has inked a deal with Lionsgate to produce his TRU biopic, “King Of The South,” which is fitting
for what the music mogul has accomplished.
In a statement to XXL, the rapper says, “To be alive and partner with a major film company is definitely
making history.” He also added that this will be the first story to come from the south to have a major
effect on the rap game.
