                                             The Real Break-Fast

                                                   By Preach Elder Brown

When I was a kid, mornings were great in our home, especially if you could smelled the bacon and
pancakes being cooked, as if it was yesterday, I remembered. It was like the best way to start the
day, hot breakfast permeating the entire house. For some people who aren't breakfast people, but
like Folgers in their cup, you could smell the coffee before it even reach the cup. These are things
that some of us knew, if we smelled it, it was morning time, and it was time for breakfast. Breakfast
has been categorized as the most important meal of the day, next to lunch. But is it?

David said to God, “early will I seek thee.” Psalm 63:1 this is that moment when his mind, body and
soul thirsted for God. Do you thirst for God? Are you hungry for his presence in your life? If so, this
is the thirst, the bread of life that sustains us. To wake up in a day, and be grateful to be alive, and
see a new dawning, a fresh newness, never promised, but given by God.

David gives us a great understanding that he
longed for God in the morning. Of course he
wasn't implying that eating in the morning was-
n't for champions, he was only saying that be-
fore he started his day, he gave God the thanks,
and delighted in his word early as he sought
God. How many of us start our day off with
break-fast with God? How many of us seek God
before those pancakes and coffee, before we
start the day? Before we look at our phones,
Facebook, and check message or missed calls?

If we tell the truth, our break-fast has consisted
probably without God. Certainly it’s okay to eat
breakfast, but the real break-fast is this, “It is
written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but
by every word that proceedeth out of the
mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4 We need Gods
word to start our day, lead our day, and devel-
op our day. His word is more than the protein
we consume. He will meet us at our day, before
we can start our day. Psalm 118:24 “This is the
day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice
and be glad in it.” Now that's some Breakfast!!!
