Sequential Batch Reactors (SBR)

A word about SBR automatic controls

SBR systems are highly automated.

Each phase of treatment is controlled and initiated by programmable logic

controller (PLC’s) linked to level probes, valve actuators, DO sensors, oxidation

reduction potential ORP probes (utilized to monitor nutrient removal) flow control

and monitoring.

There could also be flocculant or coagulant chemical automatic feeds. Treatment

phase times for each batch treatment cycle are preprogrammed and controlled by

SCADA.

The Operator does not need to initiate the treatment of a batch of wastewater. An

Operator could feel more like an observer than a hands-on Operator.
