Client Instructions Following Kidney
Transplantation
▪ Avoid prolonged periods of sitting.
▪ Monitor intake and output.
▪ Recognize the signs and symptoms of infection and rejection.
▪ Use medications as prescribed, and maintain immunosuppressive therapy for
life.
▪ Avoid contact sports.
▪ Avoid exposure to persons with infections.
▪ Know the signs and symptoms that require the need to contact the primary
health care provider or nephrologist.
▪ Ensure follow-up care.

▪ Temperature higher than 100° F (37.8° C)
