DART AND DPS-BN

The Dystrophy Annihilation Research Trust (DART) was formed in 2012 with the aim of
providing solace and support to the families of children with MD. DART has set up a world
class research facility to develop a cure to eradicate this dreadful disease and is empowered
to raise awareness about DMD in India.

Sept 4 – Sept 11 was designated as World Awareness Week by DART and many events were
conducted across the city to raise awareness. The week was kicked off by a Walkathon
organized by DART in association with the Delhi Public School [Bangalore North]. Many
students and staff of DPS joined DMD children, their families, well wishers, supporters and
the staff of DART in a spirited walk through one of the most important landmarks of
Bangalore, Cubbon Park. They carried banners, signs and distributed pamphlets to passers-
by and other walkers in the park. They also stopped at places with a good crowd to enact a
street play which captured the difficulties of living a life with DMD and also met the
audience and enlightened them on the disease. The Walkathon was a tremendous success
and an excellent start to DART’s campaign.
