GRADUATION SPEECH BY ADITI RAMAKRISHNAN,
HEADGIRL, DPSBN 2016-17
If you stood outside our school gates and took a moment to take it all in
It’s a beautiful little fairytale road that leads here, but it doesn’t even begin
To tell you of the incredible promise land that those gates are the entry to
So bear with me for these first few minutes, while I introduce our home to you.
If you look at these buildings around me, it won’t really strike you how powerful they are
That’s where we learn, we create, we innovate… That’s where magic happens, hour after
hour.
But it’s not all work and no play, because if you look to your left, you’ll see
The fountain; the site of our social life from seven am to three
The PE field, ah, the PE field, everyone’s best friend
“Ma’am, PE please!” we’ve begged and pleaded to no end.
But everything said and done, it can be said without a shadow of doubt
That every single one of us has found home here, in and about
Whether it be in the PE field, in the playing, in the dust
Perhaps it’s in the people, the friendships, the love and the trust
Perhaps, just like me, you found home in the very soul of the place,
And you see the familiar sight and feel the familiar love of family in every face.
Regardless, when you’ve found home and comfort in some form or the other
These walls are no longer just walls, and DPS North is not just another
Series of classrooms and timetables year after year
It’s an album of memories, a contract of love, and a promise that you’ll never be alone
here.
So, thank you.
To the management, for your unwavering faith in our ability to take flight
For giving us wings through opportunities, and never failing to see us reach new heights.
To Manju ma’am, Geetha ma’am, and Renu ma’am, for the kind of enthusiasm we’ll find
nowhere else,
And just for the bragging rights, I want to thank this amazing campus in itself.
