                            Abstract

  The Effectiveness of Training Program for Islamic Teachers in the
Intermediate School in the Development of Basic Science Operational

                                          Skills

         This study aimed at constructing and designing a proposed training program in
the basic science operational skills for Islamic teachers in the intermediate school and
detecting its effectiveness. Therefore the study tried to answer (11) questions. These
questions can be summarized as follows:
1. Is there a statistically significant differences at (0.05) level between the mean scores of

   the Islamic teachers (the study sample) in the pre and post basic science operational
   skills in the following skills: (observation - communication – numbers relationships –
   time and location relationships - measurement-classification- prediction - deduction -
   induction), and in the operation skills in total.
2. What is the effectiveness of the training program for Islamic teachers in the
   intermediate school in the development of the basic science operational skills?.

         The researcher designed a judged training program based on the basic science
operational skills in order to answer the research questions. Also, the researcher used
and conducted the test as a study tool and investigated the test validity and reliability.

         The study sample consisted of (35) teachers, where they randomly selected.
Also, the researcher used the quasi-experimental approach for this study.

         The researcher applied the study tools for a period of four weeks by eight days.
Then the study results were analyzed by using averages, standard deviations, and
(Paired Samples T.test) to measure the significance of differences between averages
according to the application of pre and post test on each skill, and in all basic science
operational skills. The researcher also used the square ETA (η2) to measure the effect
of size, the equation Blake (Black) to measure the effectiveness of the program.

         The study reached the following results:
1. There are statistically significant differences at (0.05) level between the mean scores

   of Islamic teachers (the study sample) in the pre and post test in each skill and in the
   skills as a whole in the benefit of the posttest application.
2. The proposed training program had achieved a highly effectiveness in the following
   basic science operational skills: (observation, deduction, induction, measurement, –
   time and location relationships and numbers relationships.) and achieved
   acceptable effectiveness in classification, prediction and communication skills and
   no effectiveness in any skill of deduction. And there was an acceptable
   effectiveness in the development of as a whole for the Islamic teachers in Yanbu.
