Many caterpillar stings can occur on the back of necks when
caterpillars drop out of trees or when children pick them up because
they look interesting or soft.
Weather conditions can vary each year. These weather variations can
change the number and trends for poisonings from caterpillars, other
insects, snakes, plants, and mushrooms. Unlike 2017 and 2018, no stings
were reported in November this year.
