Aquatics Complex Plan
This plan illustrates a proposed new outdoor recreational pool which reflects current trends in pool
designs for private clubs. The Board of Government supports this project because of its potential
appeal to a broad demographic of the membership, particularly young families. The new Aquatics
Complex would support the Club’s core mission and provide the best return on investment (i.e.
attracting new members). It would be located along Elbow Lane, adjacent to the new four-court
tennis deck and parking structure. This location provides the following:
• Proper separation from the Great Lawn and Clubhouse
• Proper solar orientation and exposure for the pool and lawn areas
• Heavy landscape buffers from the neighboring residential properties
• Separate vehicular drop-off area within the campus
The new pool would have multiple areas that accommodate programming for all ages while at
the same time creating a comfortable environment that maintains the intimate scale of the Club.
The complex would mimic the architecture of the newer buildings on campus such as the Sports
Lounge and newly enclosed dining porch. It would also serve as the ideal location for outdoor social
gatherings and events in the evening. While the final plan and design for the Aquatics Complex
remain to be identified, elements of the complex could include:
1. Fitness & Lap Swimming Pool 5. Sunbathing Area
2. Relaxation & Social Area 6. Shade Pavilion
3. Diving Area 7. Bar & Food Service
4. Kids Area 8. Restrooms & Changing Rooms
