TOUCHPOINTS IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY
Inspired by the work of Dr. T. Berry Brazelton and the potential impact of Touchpoints on children, families, and
communities, FIRST 5 implemented Touchpoints in Santa Clara County in August 2009. As a result of the successful
initial training and implementation, FIRST 5 championed Santa Clara County to be a Touchpoints site and formed the
Santa Clara County Touchpoints Training Team.
CHILDREN AND FAMILIES SERVED 124,000 ETHNICITY OF CHILDREN SERVED
Santa Clara County has a population of CHILDREN 3%
approximately 1.7 million people, including 7% 3%

Fiscal Year 2014/2015, our System of Care 6%
served more than 95,000 families,
including 74,000 children and 21,000 birth through age 9%

PROVIDERS SERVED
To date, Santa Clara County Touchpoints Team has offered 28 workshops to
565 trained providers/community members representing 65 agencies and
organizations. Workshops are offered at no cost and are open to all Santa Clara
County providers and community members. As a result of implementing Hispanic Asian White
Touchpoints in their systems, 92% of participants reflected that they felt Black/African- Multiracial Other
confident in their ability to engage and build relationships with the families American
with whom they work. Trained providers include:
• Early Educators • Family Resource Center Staff/ • Pediatricians
• County Judges and Court Staff Community Workers • Early Interventionists
• Home Visitors • Therapists/Social Workers • Parents/Caregivers
• Child Advocates • Nurses
OUR TEAM
The Santa Clara County Training Team is a transdisciplinary, cross-systems partnership that includes representatives from Early
Care and Education, Child Welfare, Early Intervention Services, Behavioral Health Services/Infant Family Early Childhood
Mental Health (IFECMH), Public Health, Community Based Organizations and FIRST 5 Santa Clara County, which serves as a
catalyst for ensuring that the developmental needs of children birth to 5 are a priority in all sectors of the community.
