            Kazova Workers Have Started Production

            The resisting Kazova workers have taken a historic step, by
        starting production in the factory that they have occupied. After
        the bosses fled they have started production with the materials

        they have and within the limits of what is available to them.

            After being thrown out of work by the bosses Umit Somuncu
        and Mustafa Umut Somuncu without four months’ worth of pay,
        seniority or notice, they started production on 1 September.

            Production without bosses

            The noise of the factory machines working without a boss
        was transmitted outside by a microphone so it could be heard. It

        was announced that after the first garments were woven the factory
        would go over to full-scale production. The workers would pro-
        duce in order to get what was owed to them, it was said.

            When the workers occupied the factory they found a number
        of machines were not in working order and they started by finish
        half-completed sweaters and selling them at forums. With the
        money made from sales at forums, they repaired the machines and

        prepared the factory to resume production.

            Kazova resistance

            The Kazova workers were thrown out of work in January.
        They started resisting in February and when they heard that ma-
        terials were being removed from the factory located in Bomonti,
        they pitched a tent in front of it on 29 April. They carried out ac-
