Ten Kazova workers have been resisting since that day.
First they opened a tent in front of the factory and started re-
sistance. Later they took part in actions in Taksim and Galatasaray.
On 28 June they occupied the factory, saying in their own
words that “they gained strength from the Gezi resistance”.
On 1 September for the first time thee produced sweaters in
the factory from material that was left behind. Now they sell these
sweaters in factories and in the forums in Istanbul.
The sweaters tell of their resistance:
We started to look at one another when we saw the spirit of
the Gezi resistance.
Are you looking at us, do you see us?
Each of us was touched by pain, beauty and cheerfulness.
Do not say “it is not like that”.
Because it is like that.
First of all, we were sent on unpaid leave.
Later we were told, do not come to work, you’re fired.
Four months of wages, seniority and notice were confiscated.
We took a decision to resist.
Because what they were really saying to us is “you are noth-
ing”.
Every day we turned a wheel.
