Sisli. Clashes became more violent and continued at night. The
next afternoon we got into Gezi. The police had to take a step
back in the face of the great popular resistance. We were tired and
had endured a lot of riot gas but we had occupied Taksim. We
had managed to carry our banner into Taksim.
15 days of being attacked with police riot gas on Taksim were
a great experience for all Kazova workers and other resisters. It was
a great source of morale for Kazova workers. Now we were more
hopeful. We had overcome some fears. And we decided to occupy
the factory. We made preparations and this time behaved in a
more prudent manner. We had already gone into the factory and
indeed we supplied the tent with electricity from the factory. On
June 27 we finished all preparations. The banner we would open
and the leaflets and small notices to be thrown into the air were
all ready. At 8 in the morning, eight friends would go into the fac-
tory, other friends would wait there, one would notify the press,
and at 8:15 when work was at its most intense, the friends who
were inside would give notice that the factory was occupied. After
everything was checked, our friends gathered in front of the fac-
tory at 5 in the morning, and as we had planned, eight of our
friends entered the factory. Inside we made plans for a possible
attack. We strengthened the doors and put up barricades at cer-
tain points. We would resist in a determined fashion. We filled
the hours up with these concerns.
Then the time came. Bomonti workers started to arrive. We
were ready. Everyone had a duty. Everyone was in their place. We
hung the banner from a window. We hung the banner and scat-
tered the small leaflets. Workers going to work observed us. We
