the area where our factory was located. We sought support at the
Sisli central forum and at the Tatavla forum and described our sit-
uation. Collective visits boosted the morale of our friends and
were connected to our struggle.
Our factory was five minutes’ walk from the head office of
DISK. But although we went there several times they gave no sup-
port to us. (We should add that this did not include DISK
Nakliyat-Is [translator’s note: a transport workers’ union affiliated
to DISK] whose members and management always supported us
in mass actions.) One day while we were waiting in the factory the
phone rang and it was one of our friends from DISK. A TV chan-
nel that wanted to film the Gezi Park resistance sought to inter-
view us. DISK, which had never visited us once, sent the TV
channel to us, which just showed how right we were.
On the one hand, to strengthen the resistance, we were con-
tinually thinking about new methods. We discussed carrying out
production and so on. While we were in the factory we discovered
under the roof a number of partly knitted sweaters. We thought
about what we would do with these sweaters, we decided that we
would finish them. Then we started to think about where and how
we would sell them. We decided to sell them at the forums. We
talked to the forums. We carried out mass sales at the Abbasaga,
Yogurtcu and Macka forums. People supported us. They sup-
ported the occupation and the production born from the resist-
ance. The sweaters attracted a lot of attention. We could also make
sales in the factory. We also went to other forums. Before we went
to forums we explained our situation and then we proceeded to
make sales.
