perse. During the people’s uprising at Elmadag, when the people
confronted the police, these kinds of officials fled the scene.
When asked about it, they said “Orange gas causes cancer, we did
not want the workers to get cancer.”

In Izmir, there were talks concerning a collective bargaining
agreement to be turned over to a Higher Arbitration Council
(YHK), and these were kept secret from the workers. While the
workers were preparing to go on strike, the collective agreement
connected to the YHK was concealed from them. They only
learned from the mayor of the collective bargaining agreement in
the last hours before the strike was due to begin.

When two revolutionaries were jailed during operations by
the AKP, these officials said “we support them” but in fact they
fired them.

This is the second hunger strike taking place at the door of
these yellow trade unions. In six months that they have been in
charge, this is the second hunger strike being conducted against
them. First of all, they looked on without embarrassment while
Sisli town hall workers went on hunger strike against them for a

period of three weeks. The immorality went as far as one union
leader went past and pretended not to see it. It was like Prime Min-
ister Erdogan said: “If you say it is not there, it is not there.” But
these shameless yellow union leaders look on while hunger strikers
at their door risk high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.
If ill activists go into a coma they will have to be removed to hos-
pital. But these yellow union leaders do not bat an eyelid.
