The resistance in the head office of GENERL-IS by regional
chairs Mehmet Karagoz and Veysel Demir is honourable and right.

As long as they resist, victory is a certainty. This is something
we learned from previous struggles and the great Death Fast resist-
ance. The regional chairs and the Sisli town hall workers carrying

out a sit-down protest at DISK will win. At the level to which they
have received aid and solidarity from the people, there is no ob-
stacle preventing them.

In addition, the BELTAS workers struggling for the removal
of the obstacles to organising and trade union rights at the CHP
town hall will win. As for the workers who started resistance in
front of the town hall by pitching a tent, and who then occupied

the CHP Besiktas district HQ after the police had attacked them
and who started a hunger strike at the beginning of this week –
they too will win. Moreover, this will be achieved despite all the
manoeuvres and efforts by union heads to break the resistance.
Such as one head of a union trying to persuade other workers not
to join a resistance by workers to have their union rights and com-
petency recognised. Even workers who had never previously been
together with other workers are visiting these workers and con-
ducting meetings since workers have begun to resist. BELTAS
workers are resisting despite these kinds of branch chairs. And

their resistance is growing. Support and solidarity from the people
are growing. The solidarity has reached the level that the CHP can-
not send police to attack the workers. The police were called to
the building but they could not get them to attack.

This is the power of resistance. The legitimacy of resistance.
Certainly at this level of resistance it is still not out of the question
