For days we maintained a vigil at Kamp Armen, which was
under threat of closure. We engaged in solidarity actions with the
institutions and took part in forums. We went to meetings and
actions wearing Kazova smocks. We also took part in boycott ac-
tions for Berkin Elvan.
On May 29, 2015 we held our opening. At the opening Grup
Yorum and our poet abi Ibrahim Karaca were with us. We shared
with the friends who came to support us at the opening how we
had got to this point, what we had learned and what we were
doing that was unprecedented.
Yes, we had held our opening, but to forward we had to es-
tablish our cooperative. Besides sweaters we rolled up our sleeves
and made T-shirts. We found our current place to be too small
and moved elsewhere to establish our textile workshops and make
T-shirts and cloth bags.
Our slogans of Cheap, Good Quality Production For The
People reached the people through the sale of our products at fo-
rums, concerts and in the neighbourhoods with the help of local
businesses. We did not make any concessions in the quality of our
products. Without using unhealthy and non-resistant fabric like
nylon, we created an example of good-quality clothing that would
reach not rich people who pay a lot of money for them but was in-
expensive and within reach of poor people.
We carried the slogan of Che Guevara “Solidarity is the del-
icacy of the oppressed” everywhere that our solidarity could reach.
When the people of Hopa (in the extreme east of Turkey) were
beset by flood disaster, we showed solidarity. We said the pain of
