bankrupt, and on Wednesday 13 March the workers marched to
their workplace and read out a press statement.
At one in the afternoon the workers appeared in front of Sisli
mosque and put on smocks with the inscription “We want and
will get our rights, we are workers, we are right, we will win” and
they opened a banner saying that “We will not let the bosses of
Kazova Textiles, Umit Somuncu and Mustafa Umut Somuncu,
take away our rights”.
The workers started a march to the workplace in Bomonti
and were applauded by people in Sisli from their windows. They
shouted the slogans, “We are workers, we are right, we will win,
we will not allow Umit Somuncu to take away our rights, the Ka-
zova workers are not alone, we will win by resisting.” The press
statement was read out by Serkan Gomus. According to the state-
ment:
“The factory has been closed for 40 days. The bosses of Ka-
zova Trikotaj, Umit Somuncu and his son Mustafa Umut So-
muncu, are still missing. Their remedy for paying their debts is
hiding in a corner and running away. Without giving us the rights
due to us for our labour, and we will continue to expose the bosses
with our actions,” they said.
25 people took part in the action, and they announced they
would do the same the same next week in the same time and place.
