wages, as well as seniority and compensation, and on Sunday 24
March they went to the house of their boss Umit Somuncu. At 4
pm the workers opened a banner with the inscription “We will
not let the bosses of Kazova Textiles, Umit Somuncu and Mustafa
Umut Somuncu, take away our rights” and they shouted the slo-
gans slogans “We won’t let Umit Somuncu take away our rights,
we don’t want charity, we want our rights, we are workers, we are
right, we will win” as they came up to the house in Istanbul
Sariyer/Tarabya.
In their statement read out in front of the house they called
out to Umit Somuncu, “Yes, we came. Where are you? For weeks
you have not come and faced us.” After the statement people came
from nearby houses and apartments and said they had moved.
The situation of the workers was explained to them and Umit So-
muncu was described as arrogant and accursed, and his new ad-
dress obtained.
At 6 pm the workers put on their smocks and went to a house
in Sariyer Ferahevler. For a time, they chanted the slogan “We
won’t let Umit Somuncu take away our rights, we don’t want char-
ity, we want our rights, we are workers, we are right, we will win”
and read out a statement exposing their bosses.
Kazova Workers Are Determined To Obtain Their Rights
On 31 March 2013, the Kazova workers were in front of the
Ferahevler house of their boss Umit Somuncu, who had taken
away their rights and thrown them out of work. The workers
opened a banner proclaiming “We will not let Umit Somuncu and
Mustafa Umut Somuncu, take away our rights” and shouted the
