to take away the rights of people who have what you covet, but do
not forget we will not have what is for our wives and children to
be taken away.” Frequently they shouted slogans such as “The
workers are here. Where are the Somuncus?” They finished the

The Kazova Workers Are Resisting
The actions by the Kazova Trikotaj workers whose resistance
started on 27 March [as published: actually February] to get their
wages, seniority and compensation from their bosses Umit So-
muncu and Mustafa Umut Somuncu are continuing. On Wednes-
day 3 April they appeared in front of Sisli mosque and put on
smocks and opened a banner with the inscription “We will not
let the bosses of Kazova Textiles, Umit Somuncu and Mustafa
Umut Somuncu, take away our rights” and they began a march in
front of the factory with the slogans “Kazova workers are not
alone, we don’t want charity, we want our rights, we are workers,
we won’t let Umit Somuncu take away our rights, we are right, we
will win”. In front of the factory they read out a statement:
“We are the Kazova textile workers, who were not paid for
four months that we worked, and on 31 January 2013 we were
fired. To regain our rights, we have been resisting since 27 Febru-
ary. Every Wednesday in front of the factory, every Saturday in
Taksim and every weekend in front of the bosses’ house we try to
make our voices heard. Our bosses Umit Somuncu and Mustafa
Umut Somuncu have been hiding for months but we will con-
tinue to make our voices heard until we get our rights,” they said.
