want our rights, we won’t let Umit Somuncu take away our rights,
long live our Kazova resistance.” Here they issued a press state-
ment: the bosses, instead of giving them their rights, have moved
residence, hidden themselves and told family and relatives lies like
“we wanted to give them their rights but they did not like it and
wanted something else, so they opened a court case”. The workers
say that rather than give them anything they had removed threads,
sweaters and suchlike materials from the factory at the dead of
night. They said that this was why we have put up a tent and will
continue our action until we get our rights. The workers put the
banner they had brought with them on the wall of the factory.
You Will Not Prohibit Taksim To The Workers
In the 28th week of resistance, the workers were in Taksim
Square on Saturday 11 May.
At 6 pm, the Hey textile and Kazova textile workers came to
the entrance of Istiklal Avenue with a banner stating “We want
and will get our work and our labour rights. We are the workers,
we are right, we will win. Workers in resistance”. They shouted
the slogan “We are workers, we are right, we will win, long live
our Hey textile resistance, long live our Kazova resistance.”
However, immediately after May Day the AKP government
banned Taksim Square and they expected the police to have a bar-
rier there. The workers came to the front of the barricade and
chanted the slogan, “No barriers to workers but to capitalism. We
don’t want charity, we want our rights.” Later they read out a press
statement there. In the press release:
“On May Day they sought to ban Taksim to all workers, now
