They came to Galatasaray high school chanting the slogans
“We are workers, we are right, we will win, we will not let Aynur
Bektas take away our rights, Kazova workers are not alone, we do
not want charity, we want our rights, we will not allow yellow trade
unionism”.
Previously the Sisli workers had read out a statement. In the
statement:
“At an extraordinary congress of our union, Branch No. 3
DISK Genel-Is trade union, we won the election with 46 votes out
of 52. A protocol was put together by the board of elections certi-
fying that we won. But Sisli municipality chairman Mustafa Sarigul
and general board leadership are cooperating, failing to respect
the result and are seeking to liquidate our board of managers.
They bought the election board, the general board leadership
called the police and they played a thousand and one games, claim-
ing we had lost the congress election that we had won. To put a
stop to this, we as the Sisli workers have begun a struggle and put
up a tent. From this point we will not allow bosses’ or yellow trade
unions.”
Then the Hey textile workers, who have resisted for 393 days,
spoke. In the statement made in the name of these workers:
“On 9 February 2012 we were fired without being paid 3
months’ wages and were not given notice or paid seniority. 29
weeks ago we united our struggle with that of other workers, our
friends, who like us had been thrown out of work. On many oc-
casions your private security and police attacked the tent we set
up in an effort to remove it, but you did not succeed. You will not
