“In our country, those in government constantly say ‘our
country is developing and growing’ but as if it were not enough
that workers are paid poverty wages, employers can take workers’
rights away and then flee. Nobody demands a reckoning from
them for it. But the Kazova workers are not alone. We will con-
tinue to support them in their legitimate struggle. We believe that
sooner or later they will win.”
After the statements, Necati abi from the Emekli Cephesi
(Retired Front) sang a song. Everyone sang marches and folk songs
and then ended the action.
Kazova Textile Workers Marched To Get Their Rights
From 27 March, when they started actions to get back the
rights taken from them by their bosses Umit Somuncu and
Mustafa Umut Somuncu, and 29 April, when the Kazova textile
workers set up a tent in front of the factory to continue their re-
sistance, on Wednesday 29 May they marched from Sisli mosque
to their factory.
At 1 pm they gathered in front of Sisli mosque opened their
banner with the inscription “WEWILL NOT LET THE KAZOVA
BOSSES UMIT SOMUNCU AND MUSTAFA UMUT SO-
MUNCU TAKE AWAY OUR RIGHTS” and they marched to
the factory in Bomonti where the tent was pitched. They chanted
the slogan “WE DON’T WANT CHARITY, WE WANT OUR
RIGHTS, WE WON’T LET UMIT SOMUNCU TAKE AWAY
OUR RIGHTS, WE ARE WORKERS, WE ARE RIGHT, WE
WILL WIN”. When they got to the factory they made the follow-
ing statement:
